Women Veterans and Families Network
Won Palisoul – Won Palisoul founded and serves on the Board of the Women Veterans and Families Network, an organization with a mission to empower, support and promote the general welfare of women veterans and military families through professional development, resources, networking, advocacy, mentorship, and outreach.
Maria Carlin – Maria volunteered at the Mobile Food Distribution of Orlando for low income veterans through Soldiers’ Angels (May No Soldier Go Unloved). The team of volunteers served and delivered 13,000 pounds of food to about 200 veterans. According to Maria, “Interacting with and serving those who served us was a very emotional experience.”
Dress for Success
Susan Hammann – Susan volunteers with Dress for Success Washington, DC whose mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Susan assists women through image styling sessions, resume-writing workshops, and other DFS events that increase confidence and marketability.
Darien Land Trust
Erika Morris – Erika serves on the The Darien Land Trust, an organization that permanently preserves and restores open space, providing the community with environmentally rich habitats and opportunities for educational experiences. The DLT is a member of the Land Trust Alliance, a powerful advocate and voice for conservation needs throughout the United States.
Susan Hammann – InvestWrite is a national writing competition, produced by The Stock Market Game program that adds a critical thinking component to help reinforce concepts learned in the classroom. As a volunteer judge, Susan provides feedback to students on essays on finance, building a bridge between classroom learning and the real world.
Commonwealth Veterans Residence, Home Depot Foundation
Chris Mendez, Susan Hammann – In September 2017, Chris and Susan volunteered on Veterans Day rehabilitating the Commonwealth Veterans Home in the Bronx, NY as part of the Home Depot Foundation’s annual Day of Service.
Warriors for Warriors Charity Shark Tournament
Alex Soloway – Semper is a sponsor of the annual Warriors for Warriors Charity Shark Tournament and sponsors “Endless Summer” as a competing boat. Alex captains the boat through the tournament which raises funds for Operation Restored Warrior. Participants contribute financially to the cause but they also make strong, meaningful personal connections with veterans going to an ORW Drop Zone program to heal from PTSD and live fuller lives.
Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Teachers
Clarence Williams – Clarence serves on the board of Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Teachers, an organization promoting cultural diversity in education.

Greg Parsons – Greg participated on a panel during a day of mentoring transitioning service members and their families along with Mission America and American Dream U at Joint Base Myer Henderson Hall, Arlington, Virginia.
Wounded Warrior Lone Sailor
Maria Carlin – Every April, Maria runs in the Wounded Warrior Lone Sailor 5K to raise money to support the Camaraderie Foundation and Central Florida Navy League’s programs for veterans in Orlando, Florida.
